The Energy Revolution on Four Wheels

Driven by the Sun

Many can drive electrically. But only the Sion can produce energy itself and share it with others. It is the innovative solar car that can recharge itself from the sun and thus generate additional range.

With our innovations, it is also possible to use the energy through bidirectional charging or to share it with others thanks to our sharing services.

Sono Solar: Harnessing the Power of the Sun

In just one hour, the sun delivers enough energy to supply the entire world population with electricity for one year. We are using this potential to make the Sion even more independent of the power socket. By seamlessly integrating solar cells into the body, the Sion can generate up to 245 km (112 km on average) of additional range per week under ideal conditions.

Bidirectional Charging: Power Where You Need It

Thanks to bidirectional charging technology, the Sion can draw and store energy and share it too. Via a household plug (SchuKo), all common electronic devices can be operated and charged with up to 3.7 kW using the Sion as an energy source. The Sion can deliver even more power via the type 2 plug. Other electric cars and also high-voltage appliances can then be operated with up to 11 kW.

  • Charging capacity: 50 kW DC with CCS; up to 11 kW AC with Typ 2 + SchuKo
  • Charge capacity: 11 kW AC with Typ 2; 3,7 kW with SchuKo

My Energy Is Your Energy – Power Sharing With the Sion

Our bidirectional charging system in combination with the Sono app allows you to use your Sion as an independent charging station and share the stored energy with others. You decide how much power you want to give away and at what price. Other app users can see your offer and the exact location of your car. This function turns the Sion into a mobile charging station that you can even use to earn money.

Charging Systems

You can charge the Sion at nearly any charging station in Europe using any of three different charging methods: SchuKo, Type 2 and CCS.

With an SchuKo to Type 2 adapter cable, the time taken to fully charge a completely empty battery up to 100 % can be up to 13 hours, depending on the capacity of the socket.

European Household Plug (SchuKo)

This method takes 2.5 hours to provide 80 % charge and 3.2 hours for 100 %.

Standard Charging Station (Typ 2)

The Sion can be charged up to 80 % in 30 minutes using CCS. You will have to allow for another 30 minutes for a 100% charge. Nevertheless, 80 % provides 200 kilometers of range, which is often enough to take you to the next rapid charging station.
